My profile story while being true, is not unique. Almost every person I talk with has at some point expressed a desire to be more creative or to find a means whereby they can manifest their inner artist. I know personally how the desire to be creative nags at the consciousness and that ignoring it only serves to deepen the frustration and impatience with mundane daily routine. Now that I have my creative venue, it is easier to work on the day-to-day job that pays the bills, but doesn’t reward or stimulate the senses. I can do a good job for a client and take satisfaction in the fact that it was well done. However, it is not the same satisfaction I get when I design and create a necklace, watching it unfold and become what I imagined. When I’m creating a custom order, I get an even greater satisfaction when the customer sees the beauty of the finished piece and declares it to be exactly what they wanted. That is a most gratifying experience.
I believe beauty, perceived and generated, is appreciated by all humankind. I think it is in our nature to be creative and to take great pleasure in crafting a work of art. However, not everyone is able to express their creativeness with tangible material. What I’ve discovered is that those without physical skills still envision what they would like to create and thus, respond to similarities in an artist’s work or style. What they appreciate is how well the artist captured what they perceive as beautiful.
Only two years into my web presence and I realize that the best creations are the custom orders. They incorporate design, coloration, material and two minds sharing the creative process. That is why I’m changing my focus from just selling my beads, to modifying my creations to fit your needs. This blog serves that purpose very nicely by demonstrating visually how a single change impacts the whole creation.
Thank you,

#01-00001 Amethyst & Silver
The very first item on my website is this Amethyst and Silver set using Amethyst nuggets. First the nuggets are a freeform shape which I mixed with some very defined silver shapes, squares and rectanglular tubes. Second, the silver is antiqued which shows more shadows than non-antiqued silver. Third, as with many of my designs, the necklace is longer than average, allowing for partial hiding under a collar, yet with enough of the necklace visible to make a statement.
The modified version changes only the color of the Amethyst nuggets to an Averntine or green jade color. The most obvious result of the change is that the color is more complimentary to a wider range of colors in a wardrobe. Second, the green color is very spring like, whereas the purple appears very suitable for winter. The silver accents also keep the item springy. Change the silver accents to gold and you change it to a more summery look.
Any of my designs are customizable. On the custom orders page on my website I have a list of stones grouped by basic color. I welcome anyone to suggest another change.
